Station Commissioner's Message

Greetings and thank you for visiting our website.

Information is the lifeblood of  Police  Organizations around the world and the Honeydew Police is no exception. This  website therefore has to serve as one of those channels of information and communication that will improve and enhance that level of trust and co-operation between the Public and the  Honeydew Police.

The advent of Democracy has ushered into South Africa Political freedom. However criminals have and are continuing to deprive our Society of the right to enjoy this freedom as a result of their serious and violent criminal activities. They not only threaten the future of our Democracy but have also contributed to the lack of Community and Business confidence in the ability of the Police to create a safe and secure environment for our inhabitants.

Crime is a human phenomenon, it is created, orchestrated and perpetrated by human beings and I am therefore confident that it can be stabilized, prevented and significantly reduced to internationally acceptable standards. The most problematic crimes in Honeydew currently are House robberies, Business robberies, Car Hijackings, Burglaries at Residential Premises and Theft of Motor Vehicles. Comprehensive information in relation to the crime statistics can be accessed via the official SAPS website at  www.saps.gov.za . Regular crime trends and tendencies will be posted on the site to up-date you as to what is going on in your neighbourhood. I assure you that the available resources will be fruitfully utilized to Police this Precinct.

The Police alone cannot and will not be able to solve the crime problems of South Africa. The root causes and contributing factors of crime must be identified and addressed holistically.  Honeydew is expanding at a rapid rate with the area including informal settlements, small holdings, cluster homes and usual suburbs.

The 3 key focus areas for the Honeydew Police will therefore be the following:
1) Enhancing our intelligence capacity to both gather and analyze information;
2) Community mobilization; and
3) A multi-disciplinary integrated approach to law enforcement involving all stakeholders.

My vision as the Station Commissioner is  “ To ensure that Honeydew SAPS becomes the best Police Station in South Africa with the most improved levels of service delivery and the most significant reductions in the levels of crime”

I look forward to receiving information from you to assist us in the fight against crime. If you are in the Law Enforcement field and wish to share ideas or best practices on crime prevention with me you are most  welcome. Rest assured of our commitment to Protect and Serve you. Network with us and we will make Honeydew more safe and secure.

Assistant Commissioner Oswald D Reddy

Chairman's Message

Welcome to the website of the Honeydew Community Police Forum (CPF).

This site is here to make you aware of crime trends in Honeydew, enable you to communicate with the CPF and the Honeydew Police Service, keep you abreast of goings on in the community and provide resident associations a platform to communicate with their residents.

Honeydew is known far and wide for the good work done by the CPF and the present committee intend to build on this reputation and work towards making Honeydew a safer area for all residing in it. Please go to the CPF page to see where help is required in the precinct and where you can assist.

We can only succeed if we have the help and support of all the residents in Honeydew.

I trust that you will find this site of great use and that it is informative. This is a community based web site so your comments and input into this site would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail the Webmaster or the Chairman with any comments or suggestions

I look forward to working with you and for you in the coming months as we work to keep our families safe from the scourge of crime that we have become so accustomed to. Together we can make a difference.

To borrow a phrase from John Donne - "No man is an island".

Yours in community

John Baisley
